The procedure will not affect your daily routine for very long. Initial swelling and minor bruising subside after a few days. As much as 70 percent of the swelling will abate after only three to four weeks. The remaining and hardly visible swelling will slowly disappear within the following months.
The first night after the procedure is usually accompanied by a burning sensation and some minor pain. However, this will have subsided significantly on the following day or might have disappeared altogether. From the third day onwards, you can already have a shower. Please only use lukewarm water without soap during the first week. You should wait for at least four weeks after the operation before you have intercourse again. The wounds will have healed, but can be a little bit fragile still. Before this time has elapsed, the wounds may reopen during strong mechanical exposure. These strains, which occur for example when exercising sports like horse riding, cycling or jogging, are not recommended during the first four weeks.
As the scar is outside of the "area of friction", this does not affect intercourse in any way. There might be a minor feeling of paresthesia along the scar, which will subside soon enough. The sensitivity of the clitoris is not affected.
During the first two weeks after the operation, you should not use tampons, but sanitary pads during your menstrual period.
