After the operation you will take a short rest in our clinic. In these 30 to 60 minutes you will chill your genital area and go to the toilet. Before you leave us we will change your bandage. A hospital stay is not necessary. However, you should rest at home or in the hotel. Lie down in the first few hours and continue to cool down your genital area. Please also make sure not to walk long distances or drive a car yourself. It would be best if you could be accompanied by another person.
The day after the operation you will visit us again. We will change your bandage and give you everything you need for the following few days (compresses, wound dressings). You should take the antibiotics as prescribed by us. Only take the painkiller until the second day after the operation, and continue only if required.
The stitches for closing up the wound will dissolve naturally and do not need to be removed. After a few days you might feel some itching, which can be soothed with a fatty ointment. You can also choose to have the stitches removed after the twelfth day, either by coming to us, or by your gynecologist or general practitioner.
For which stage of my menstrual cycle should I plan the operation?
Your cycle is irrelevant, which means that the operation can also take place while you are menstruating.
What do I need to expect after the operation?
An operation almost always results in some bruising and minor swelling. You will be prescribed a painkiller for the pain in the first few hours after the operation. The scars normally heal quickly and are usually hardly visible.
Will I have severe pain?
Severe pain is not to be expected.
